My name is Tony Cody and I live on the far edge of the Westwood neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio with my husband and two dogs. We share a charmed life that has certainly had moments of dramatic redirects, but overall I still enjoy a nice coffee and a comfy chair. “The time of COVID” has brought us closer and, as we have kept our bubble very small, we were given the opportunity to re-examine our family goals and values.
Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’m married with two cute little dogs and a passion for home and family.
Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I have spent much of my career on two paths. One was in front of the spotlight and one behind the scenes. As I’ve gotten older, I think I’m happier behind the scenes.
What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Oh gosh – I have a love affair with Frisch’s and Ivory House in Westwood.
How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I was born here but have been back in Cincinnati almost 20 years.
Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Pam Kravetz.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
“I’ve been everywhere, man…” I’m happiest at home and love to spend time in the garden. I would just walk out the back door and play in the dirt.
What is one of your favorite movies?
The Color Purple.
What advice would you give to people?
There is no rush—take your time.
What is something on your bucket list?
I don’t really have a bucket list, but I’m very much looking forward to intimate dinners with friends and family.
What is your go to music when you cant decide what to listen to?
Adele – pretty much any of her music.
What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Aglamesis Ice Cream
If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?
Again, I’m very much looking forward to intimate meals with friends and family. I would sit and listen to any of them for hours just to be close and hear their voice. I think we’d have to go to Frisch’s (smile).
What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I live in the most socially, ethnically, and economically diverse community that I could have ever have imagined.
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I hope to be giving others the profoundly humbling gift that being around horses has given me.
Side Story: Tony spent many years, beginning when he was only 5, riding and interacting with horses to the point he was pretty sure that working with horses would be his chosen profession, but an injury side-tracked him and eventually he moved into other vocations. He still holds a deep appreciation for all things equestrian and remains an advocate of the industry, especially considering the therapeutic nature of these beautiful animals.
What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
There is absolutely not a jealous bone in my body and I am the least competitive person on the planet.
What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
I love the sunset from our front porch.
Favorite month? Favorite holiday? Best single day on the calendar?
October – I love Fall/Autumn
What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
The early monologues that were written for James Spader on The Black List.
Who inspires you to be better?
My husband.
Side Note: Tony’s husband Will was featured here a few months ago. Tony stays engaged with Will’s new baking business English Woods Bakery – “mostly as a taster” – he says.
What are your favorite smells?
Citrus and Lavender.
Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Peace, Love, Calm.
