Meet Ray Kroner
I grew up in Cheviot and currently reside in Westwood. I married Chris Dearing in 1981, and we have two married daughters, Jenny (Derrick) and Emily (Rob), and have four grandchildren, Dominic, Noah, Eleanor, and Raphael. I own Kroner Dry Cleaners, which was started by my grandfather in 1939. I am past president of Cheviot Westwood Kiwanis and Cheviot Westwood Community Association.
What do you love most about what you do?
I enjoy building relationships and figuring out the puzzle that comes with running a small business.
What are your favorite restaurants in our community?
Ruth’s Parkside Café and Dee Felice Cafe
Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Through the course of the day, I interact with many people. They all become characters of interest in my story.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Somewhere that’s COVID free!
What is one of your favorite movies?
Saving Private Ryan.
What advice would you give to people?
The good habits you develop today create the success you will have tomorrow.
What is something on your bucket list?
Travel west more often.
What is your go-to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
That depends on my mood: anything from Dark Side of the Moon to Grand Canyon Suite.
What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The return of Small’s Hardware.
What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Harvest Home Parade.
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Enjoying life.
What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I study classical guitar.
What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
It’s a tie between Cinque Terra Italy and Ronda Spain.
For you, what is the best single day on the calendar?
Thanksgiving.
What activity would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Pool time with the grandkids.
Who inspires you to be better?
My 7 siblings.
What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Fireplaces in the Fall.
