“Adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Meet high school graduating senior, Jaiden Smith. Jaiden is graduating this year from Walnut Hills High School and is headed for her next adventure at Ohio University. She gave us her favorite quote, above and we asked for some fun facts as follows. Please join The Faces of Cincinnati in recognizing Jaiden and the class of 2020!
Q: What would you say you are most proud of about yourself?
A: My creativity when it comes to my style
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
A: I have a bigger family. My 3 sisters plus my mom and dad. My sisters and I are very close, even though my older sister is away in the navy. We’re a talented, dysfunctional (as all families are), and funny group that is a lot to handle at one time.
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: The Vampire Diaries
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world (no restrictions) right now, where would it be and why?
A: Hawaii, I was supposed to go on a school trip there this past March but it was cancelled. Hawaii is filled with so many crazy organisms and landforms that are so educational and fascinating for me, I’m even studying the field in college. Plus, I find the culture of the Hawaiian people very interesting.
Q: If you could go back, what advice would you give to yourself as a freshman?
A: Nobody cares about what you have or where you live, just surround yourself with people and things that make you happy.
Q: What is the best advice you received from a teacher?
A: Never limit yourself to just the classroom. Going out into nature and seeing it for yourself is the best way to learn.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
A: The Pixies 🙂
Q: If you could choose anyone alive today or passed, with whom would you like to have lunch? What would you want to know?
A: Probably Lana Del Rey, she is such an old soul and I feel like I would connect with her on another level.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
A: The way traditions bring so many different types of people together
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: Living in an airstream camper/van while traveling and seeing as much of the country as I can.
Q: What is your favorite month, holiday or season of the year? And do you have a favorite single day on the calendar?
A: Summer. The last day of school every year.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: My sisters.
Q: What is the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is completely over?
A: Go on a camping trip with my best friends before we all go off to college.
Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?
A: My friends
